·BEGINNER·Chord Melody·1 lesson
Randy takes you step by step through his thought process to select chord changes and voicings and construct solo lines on Green Dolphin Street. Concepts include tetrachords, triton substitutions and back-cycling. In addition to demonstrating various chord options for comping, Randy also presents the melody with chords. Then he takes a measure or two at a time and shows different approaches to soloing. This is a very hands-on, practical class that you can apply the concepts of right away. Chord Block Diagrams included. Running time 1 hour.

This is an INCREDIBLE Study of a Tune........I have never seen anything this comprehensive anywhere on the Internet, Ever! There is so much valuable, useable material in this 1 hr. lesson it is unreal......... There are plenty of both Chord Melody and Single line soloing examples that of course is transferable to other songs........ Plus a Bonus video segment near the end on SPECIFICALLY how to use guide tone lines while connecting all the 2-5s in the C Section........ This is a Must Have........

Your lessons are so clearly explained. After having I think EVERY one of your cds, I know how well you could easily just "show-off" your p[laying skills and I appreciate how instead you are showing off your teaching skills. Please do more lessons for us!

I'll add to the clear presentation of this class the fact that Randy also patiently explains and demonstrates how to use voice leading to create lines/licks on the last part of the tune. I hope to see more tune-based lessons from this great jazz teacher.
