Héctor is a graduate of the Higher Institute of Art in Cuba, where he studied classical and electric guitar and is now a teacher of jazz guitar.

In 2017 Héctor performed in the concert for International Jazz Day chaired by the Herbie Hancock Institute and UNESCO.
He has shared the stage and collaborated with musicians including: Mark Whitfield, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Al Jarreau, Joe Lovano, Roberto Fonseca, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Joaquín Betancourt, Sid Jacobs, María del Mar Bonet, Doug Cameron, Reginald Policard, Sammy Figueroa, the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba, Cimafunk, and Bobby Carcasses to name a few
